Chapter 4: Voila!
A kitchen remodel
Not landscape-related, but we remodeled our kitchen and we project managed and designed it. The process may feel familiar to you, and who doesn’t love a good HGTV-ish moment? We’re going to go through the process over the next month, so stay tuned!
FINISHED! -ish?
I know you want to just see the pictures, so I’ll keep the intro brief. We were finished…..mostly. We still had to get window treatments and even today we still have the exposed wire for a light fixture above the stove….I think we’re just too exhausted to try anything more. Besides, we have the next 50 years to update again, right?
Takeaways
This was the biggest project we’ve done. We amazingly only overshot our budget by a very small margin and finished in about 5 weeks. There’s no way my husband or I could’ve done this on our own - it was definitely a team effort managing this project. We’re so grateful to all the contractors who worked on this and just the chance to even make a dream a reality. It’s funny because usually when I meet new clients they don’t use their outdoor space much, but I know once we’re done they’ll be outside more than inside when the weather is nice (which, in San Diego, is much of the year). I somehow didn’t put it together that the same would be true for interior improvements. We use this space so much more now that it’s well done. It feels comfortable and warm which is exactly what I wanted. I don’t know if it’s going to look outdated in 10 years (I sure hope not), it’s hard to know what trends will stick around. But this kitchen will serve us for years. I would do it all in a heartbeat. Thanks for coming with me on this home improvement journey!
